Naugatuck
Discovery
is a local collaborative made up of Naugatuck residents, child
care providers, parents, seniors, family service providers, community
groups, faith-based organizations and educators. A committee of
volunteers and staff meets regularly to plan and take action on
Discovery's goals and objectives, including community and family
awareness about the importance of early childhood for children's
social, emotional and academic success.

"Nuturing
Group for Prenatal Families" will meet weekly, beginning
Thursday, May 8, 2 to 4 p.m. at the Staywell Health Center, 80
Phoenix Avenue, Suite 305, Waterbury. Support, information and

"Choosing
a Day Care for Your Child with Special Needs" will be
the topic of a presentation by Shari Konn-Andrade, of the CT United
Way, Tuesday, May 13, 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Central Park, an Indoor
Kids Play Place, 74 Central Avenue, Waterbury. The program is
offered by the Parent Resource Group for Parents Raising Children
from Birth to Three & Beyond. Co-sponsors are the CT Family
Support Network - Northwest Region & CT Lifespan Respite Coalition.

Your Outdoor Play Area,"
a free workshop for child care providers. Learn best practices
in playground design, how to evaluate infrastructure, accrediation
compliance and how to develop age-appropriate play areas, 9 a.m.
