Naugatuck Discovery has been serving the community since 2002. The initiative was the result of a grant awarded by the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund in Hamden, CT.  Naugatuck is one of 49 communities in Connecticut participating in the fund's Discovery initiative. 

The goal of the Naugatuck Discovery initiative is to improve the lives of young children from birth to age 8. The William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund endeavors to promote parent leadership, parent engagement and community collaborations to achieve the following objectives:

To expand the supply of high quality early childcare and education opportunities. 

To improve the quality of existing early childcare and education. 

To strengthen connections between early childcare and elementary education. 

To improve students' social, emotional and academic performances.
